Four-star guard prospect Barton Clement announced his commitment to Texas A&M on Sunday, choosing the Aggies over Ohio State, Texas and a host of other schools.

“I’ve been waiting a long time for this moment,” Clement told 247Sports’ Taylor Hamm. “Now it’s my opportunity to be a part of something great. They’ve always been there from the beginning. It took a little longer because I wanted to do my research and go through the recruiting process.”

Clement is considered the No. 251 overall recruit and 12th-ranked guard in the 2018 class, per Scout.com. He is the state of Texas’ top-ranked guard.

“I chose them because I’ve been doing my research and I want to be a chemical engineer and they have one of the best schools for that,” Clement said. “I really love the coaches, especially coach (Jim) Turner. He’s got the knowledge and experience to prepare me for the next level. He knows what I need to do and what I have to do to be successful.”

Listed at 6’3″ and 301 pounds, Clement adds another piece to what’s shaping up to be a stellar class for coach Kevin Sumlin. The Aggies ranked 10th in Scout.com’s 2018 class rankings before Clement’s commitment. He’s their seventh 4-star recruit, three of which have come on the offensive line. Tackle Colten Blanton and guard Luke Matthews have already given their verbals.

Clement and Matthews are both from Missouri City, Texas, but play at different high schools.
