No. 1 Duke dropped a game. No. 2 Kansas lost two. But despite losing a number of top contributors from their national championship team a year ago, Villanova stands tall.

The Wildcats returned to their perch as the nation’s top-ranked team in the latest AP poll, leapfrogging a Michigan State team that ranked ahead of them a week ago. The Spartans sit in the No. 2 spot, followed by Wichita State, Duke and Arizona State.

The weekend proved disastrous for the nation’s top two teams, with Duke’s defense falling apart in an 89-84 loss to Boston College and Kansas dropping a home game to Arizona State.
