The Las Vegas Aces, formerly known as the San Antonio Stars, tabbed South Carolina standout A’ja Wilson as the No. 1 overall pick in Thursday night’s WNBA draft at Nike’s New York City headquarters.

The 2018 John R. Wooden Award winner is the first player selected by the Aces since the WNBA announced the franchise was relocating from San Antonio to Sin City last fall.

She’s also the first South Carolina player to be selected No. 1 overall:

A 21-year-old forward, Wilson cleaned up on the awards circuit after averaging 22.6 points and 11.8 rebounds while blocking 105 shots and shooting 54.2 percent from the floor as a senior. In addition to taking home the Wooden Award, she nabbed Naismith and Associated Press Player of the Year honors.
