When Raw General Manager Kurt Angle announced Monday night that The Miz had been moved to SmackDown, the WWE Universe started thinking of the potential feuds waiting on Tuesdays.
The first thought for many wrestling fans was the battle against Daniel Bryan that will unfold on SmackDown Live, but there are several other top faces on the blue brand who desperately need to work against a heel the caliber of The Miz.
Here are the most likely feuds for The Miz when he lands on SmackDown Live.
There is no better heel for Bryan to work against in his first extended feud since returning than The Miz. With the chance to play off the incredible heat generated in a Talking Smack segment from 2016 and the subsequent underlying animosity, Bryan vs. The Miz is the perfect start to Bryan’s second chance.
In addition to verbally running down the former SmackDown GM at every chance, Miz has used Bryan’s kicks and mannerisms for over a year. The WWE Universe will finally have the chance to see Bryan get the vengeance they feel he deserves.
Another positive for Bryan is that Miz isn’t known for his in-ring prowess. With a slower and more methodical style, Miz will protect Bryan’s safety and allow him to take charge of the pace and direction of their matches.
The Miz has been working at an elite level as a heel for well over two years, and SmackDown must offer up one of its top faces to square off with following the Bryan feud. Randy Orton is the perfect protagonist to foil.
Orton and The Miz have fought many times in the past, including a series of battles in 2016, but this storyline would be more about the scathing promos from The Miz and Orton hitting the RKO on him out of nowhere.
Both men know how to work their respective in-ring styles to perfection, and they should mesh together well by using a traditional heel vs. face template. With Orton carrying more of the weight in the ring and Miz shining brightest on the mic, this is a mutually beneficial program.
While AJ Styles will be busy with Shinsuke Nakamura and The Miz will be tangling with Bryan, eventually, the WWE champion and the former Intercontinental champion have to square off against each other in a marquee feud.
Styles is one of the true cornerstones of SmackDown, and as the top face on the blue brand, he needs a heel that can challenge him both in the ring and on the mic. The defending champion can carry the battle in the ring, but the back-and-forth between the Superstars would be entertaining.
