Jalen Milroe has been refining his skills under the guidance of former coach Nick Saban. Despite a setback in week 2 against Texas last season, Saban showed his trust in the young QB. And Milroe certainly didn’t disappoint, delivering an impressive performance in his debut season as the starting QB.
Now, with Saban retired, Milroe is gearing up for his fourth season under the leadership of new coach Kalen DeBoer. Despite the coaching change after 17 years at Alabama, Milroe is eagerly looking forward to playing the 2024 season under DeBoer.
During a recent Youth Football Camp, Milroe spoke about the positive impact DeBoer has had since arriving in Tuscaloosa. The new coach has formed a strong bond with the players and their excitement about having him on board with the Crimson Tide. Milroe mentioned that DeBoer is personable and brings a great energy to the locker room. Needless to say, everyone is thrilled to have him here.
DeBoer had a successful two-year tenure with the Washington Huskies, leading them to a Pac-12 championship and a spot in the national championship finals, although they lost to the Michigan Wolverines.
Notably, DeBoer played a significant role in helping former Washington QB Michael Penix Jr. become a Heisman finalist in 2023. Now, he has the opportunity to work his magic with Jalen Milroe, helping him evolve into a dual-threat quarterback in his final year of college football.
As the offseason progresses, Jalen Milroe has decided to give back to the community. He organized a Youth Football Camp at Hillcrest High School in Tuscaloosa, catering to kids aged 6-18.
In a YouTube video, Milroe can be seen running passing drills with the young participants. Having attended Michael Vick’s youth football camps while growing up, Milroe was thrilled to provide the same experience after establishing his own reputation. Meanwhile, DeBoer aims to elevate the Alabama offense to new heights, just as he did with Washington. Can he continue Nick Saban’s legacy at the program? Only time will tell.
