Hans Zimmer was convinced to go on tour in North America by an unexpected duo: Johnny Marr and Pharrell Williams. According to the Associated Press, they “absolutely forced” him to take this step. They told him that he needed to connect with his audience and not hide behind screens forever. They believed that he owed it to his fans. Zimmer describes the US as incredibly welcoming and kind, and he finds it exciting to perform there. He also mentioned that the advantage of touring in America is that they have already taken the show across Europe a couple of times, so they are well-prepared. The German composer recently announced his first North American orchestral tour in seven years. This tour will feature Zimmer and his band performing with a full orchestra. They will play suites from various movies, including Dune, The Lion King, Interstellar, The Dark Knight, Pirates of the Caribbean, Gladiator, and The Last Samurai. Zimmer expressed his excitement about the tour and his love for uniting his extraordinary musicians with the audience. He believes that his band consists of some of the best musicians in the world. Zimmer acknowledges that the support and grace of the audience are crucial to the meaning of his music. He promises to always give his best performance straight from the heart. The tour will kick off on 6 September in Duluth, Georgia, and will conclude in Vancouver a month later. Notably, Zimmer will be celebrating his 67th birthday with a performance at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on 12 September.
