Dwayne Johnson, also known as “The Rock,” has sparked discussions among WWE fans worldwide regarding his involvement in WWE WrestleMania 40 in April. However, it appears that he has something exciting planned for his non-wrestling endeavors as well.
Using X (formerly known as Twitter) as his platform, Johnson shared a video teasing an upcoming announcement related to his energy drink brand, “ZOA.” The caption indicates that something significant is on the horizon, with the hashtags #BDE and #FEBRUARY19. This suggests that the brand will make a major revelation on February 19. The video features glimpses of Johnson sporting a mustache and donning the iconic outfit he wore during his teenage years, complete with a black turtleneck, silver chain, and fanny pack. As one of the founders of the ZOA brand, Johnson holds the title of Chief Energy Officer on the company’s website.
Since his return to WWE on the “Day 1” edition of “Raw,” Johnson has already made a significant impact. Initially expressing his desire to become the “Head of the Table,” he managed to convince Cody Rhodes to step aside and allow him to challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 40. However, due to backlash from fans, these plans have since changed. Johnson expressed his dissatisfaction with the situation and referred to Rhodes’ fans as ‘Cody Crybabies.’ As a result, he joined The Bloodline on a recent episode of “WWE Smackdown,” vowing to prevent Rhodes from concluding his story.
Beyond the wrestling ring, 2024 has already been a momentous year for Johnson. In addition to the impending announcement regarding ZOA, he was appointed as a new board member for TKO Group Holdings, WWE’s parent company, in January. On the same day, he also acquired ownership of the trademark for “The Rock.”
Hollywood and professional wrestling have a long-standing connection due to similar reasons as Broadway and Hollywood. It is common for stage actors to transition to the big screen, and vice versa, so it is not surprising that professional wrestlers can do the same. Professional wrestling straddles the line between sport and entertainment, which explains why many of its top stars lean more towards the “entertainment” side than the “sport” side.
