The Burnsville Police Department has confirmed the presence of an “active scene” but has not disclosed further details. According to NBC News affiliate KARE, law enforcement officials have been stationed in the Burnsville neighborhood since early Sunday morning.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives took to social media to announce their response to the situation in Burnsville, where there have been reports of officers being involved in a domestic-related shooting.
Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar shared on X that she had been informed about three officers being shot in Burnsville. NBC News has not yet verified this report independently. Klobuchar expressed her concern by stating, “Learned from police this morning that three officers have been shot in Burnsville. They were doing their jobs. They were protecting our community. John and I are praying for them and their families and the Burnsville P.D. this morning.”
The department made a plea on X for the public to keep the Burnsville Police Department in their thoughts and prayers. Jim Nash, a Minnesota state representative, also addressed the situation on social media.
“My heart goes out to the families of these officers, the Burnsville community, and our nation as a whole, as this tragic incident is unfortunately not an isolated one,” Nash expressed.
