Sonequa Martin-Green, the actress known for her role as Michael Burnham in Star Trek: Discovery, recently discussed her children and her excitement to share her newest TV show with them. During an interview at SCAD TVFest in Atlanta, Georgia, Martin-Green revealed that her son has not yet seen the show due to its violent aspects. However, he has expressed curiosity and concern, asking why certain things happen to his mother’s character. Martin-Green eagerly awaits the day when she can show her son the show and is equally thrilled to introduce it to her daughter, who was not yet born when they first started filming. She becomes emotional when discussing the opportunity to lead by example and teach her children valuable lessons through her experiences. In the show’s fifth season, Martin-Green portrays the first Black female captain in the Star Trek universe. In a previous interview with Parents magazine, she shared her experience of facing challenges with breastfeeding her daughter and the importance of staying hydrated. Additionally, Martin-Green fondly recalled how her eldest son used to express his desire to marry her when he was younger, to which she responded with love and a gentle explanation of why it wasn’t possible.
